We started earlier than usual, setting off under the cover of darkness. With all safety checks completed on time, we were ready to embark on our journey into the Nazwah light.
A strong return to the sands for some seasoned veterans and the beginning of a thrilling new chapter for our growing community of off-roaders.
Surprisingly pleasant temperatures and light breeze greeted us as the meeting point, a nice refresher after a long and hot summer with signs the season is changing and soon the offroad and camping season begins.
As we welcomed our members returning from their summer holidays and time off the sand, the intent of todays drive was to familiarize ourselves with the driving techniques and disciplines off-roading in the desert, in preparation for the start of the season now on the horizon.
It was a small convoy this morning with only two cars, but this setup has a special bit of joy as it means further, higher and faster. As intended, we made 75km offroader style and the drive felt like a 2 for 1 as we nearly made twice the normal distance.
A super start to the weekend with a solid workout to get the endorphins flowing.
New beginnings today for our recent graduates with plenty of excitement in the air as they geared up for the next chapter – off road paradise.
As first light broke over the meeting point, we could see these epic dunes and the challenges our team of off-roaders were about to conquer.
What better way to make the most of the long weekend than an afternoon drive in Sweihan . Deflating in the shade behind a tree line, the air was filled with anticipation and excitement, mostly anticipation, as this was a first experience for me leading in this area.
