NEAR SIDE
Surprisingly pleasant temperatures and light breeze greeted us as the meeting point, a nice refresher after a long and hot summer with signs the season is changing and soon the offroad and camping season begins.
Final safety checks done we warmed our engines with some high-speed side sloping fun, one of our fellas had an issue with the gear select but after a quick shake down we started our adventure pedal to the metal climbing the windswept dunes like mountain goats with some nice jumps thrown in for fun.
Navigating through a notorious technical area with tight turns and plenty of bumps was a full body workout. Shaken but not deterred the landscape opened up once again with no tracks in sight, only blank canvases across the dune faces ready for us etch our tyre tracks.
Time for a break to relax and replenish our energy levels with the customary karak tea and enjoy the pleasant climate.
Moving on we made it to the near side of superbowl with only one other convoy in sight we had plenty of space to make our fresh lines across the sleeping giant, the sand extremely soft in parts required full concentration, with radio silence and engines signing.
Then Bosh! maneuvering in position for an opposite climb I hit a ridge and a lost steering. A quick break to diagnose the situation it was clear an early exit was needed. Thanks to Marshall Marc who was on hand to lead the way whilst I limped home at the rear.
All in all, a great drive in challenging yet pristine terrain, well done team! Thank you Marshall Marc and Adam (SL) for the support, we will get to taste those coconuts on the next adventure!
See you on the slopes soon
