Desert Fellas Advanced Training 1: Laying the Groundwork

Share with your friends!

We kicked off the Desert Fellas Advanced Training series with our first session, “Laying the Groundwork.”

We began by discussing how to set realistic expectations and boundaries, crucial for safely pushing limits during extreme maneuvers. Participants learned to gauge their vehicle’s capabilities and their own skill levels, ensuring a safe yet thrilling experience.

We then explored the theory behind cresting and switching, essential techniques for dune navigation. Understanding the physics of sand dunes and vehicle dynamics helped participants grasp the fundamentals needed for advanced maneuvers.

Next, we focused on enhancing situational awareness. This skill is vital for convoy safety, enabling drivers to read the terrain, anticipate hazards, and communicate effectively with the team.

Finally, we put theory into practice with hands-on training. Participants applied their newfound knowledge in real-world scenarios, practicing cresting and switching under expert guidance.

The session was a great success, laying a strong foundation for the advanced challenges ahead. Stay tuned for our next lesson as we continue to push the boundaries of off-road driving. Happy driving!
