Side winder
- Side winder started exactly like the name suggests – with seven Desert Fellas winding their way through the intensely technical and tightly packed dunes of Al Faqaa desert.
The first leg of our trip, which took us from the meeting point to our first rest stop was slow and extremely demanding on the longer wheel base vehicles in the convoy. Unsurprisingly, this 1.5 hour leg of our trip claimed a few second tries and stucks, whichΒ our Sweeper disposed off with ease.Β After a short and well deserved break, weΒ moved on to an area with larger dunes where the pace was increased and the convoy side sloped its way into Al Qudra desert.
We were almost at the end of our trip when we came across a precariously stranded vehicle. Being βfriends of the desertβ, we decided to put our digging and advanced recovery skills to good use, and recovered the stranded vehicle using a tandem pull technique.
The Side winder drive to the exit point included some high speed side sloping and a pulse raising race across a sabkha.
Thanks to Hussam (SL) for keeping the convoy well informed at all times and Zoubeir (SW) for his swift recoveries and well guided second tries. You guys kept the convoy moving through some seriously demanding terrain.

I love the small dune trips ..thank u for granting me my first trip in my FJ , absolutely loved it
Congratulations on your new and extremely capable ride. You will need to get more familiar with this vehicle in order to harness its full potential.
Treat every drive as a learning drive, with the intent to sharpen your driving skills and knowledge of your car.
Was great to be back in black π€©π€πΌThank you DF team for great experience as always. The virgin dunes were highly appreciate… and the morning surprise was FIIIIIRRRREEE π₯
It was time for flexing both my car’s muscles and my back’s in the JK with this ever evolving technical area.
It always brightens my weekend to see good fellas and friends and always a pleasure to drive with DF.
Thank you Preggy, your leadership and guidance is always appreciated, thanks to Zoubeir for all the sweat he’s put in today as always, pleasure to see you all guys.
Iβm glad to drive again in your convoy Preggy.
Also it was nice to drive with some fellas, Dennis, Lucas and Ziad.

Thanks for the coffee and cookies π
Hussam and Zoubeir did a great job taking care of us.
I had a great time yesterday. The area can easily be underestimated as compared to bigger dunes in Sharjah.
However, the technique of straight cresting and navigating through soft sands is something which we should always practice.
Summer is lurking but it was an enjoyable morning! Thank you to each and everyone who joined us and supporting team β€ π
Onto the next one!
