Fresh Start Trip – report

Share with your friends!

We met today at 2pm at Al Qudra for the fresh start trip of the Ab Initio 4th generation.

Everyone was on time although somehow we had two different meeting points due to some misreading of the GPS.

Today the aim was to take this 4th generation onto the next step.

We started with a short warm and we eased ourselves into the drive.

The trip had some individual training where Marko explained some techniques and driving tricks and each one had to try it on his own.

A few stucks were present but all were dealt with promptly.

Here is some feedback for each of you, and please leave your comments and your experience:

Preggy:
I think you did well today. Keep up the strategy and the enthusiasm high.
Pradeep:
You are all good buddy. This trip is showing how far you went with your skills. You where in same shoes not so long time a go. I hope you will have chance to drive at  higher level junior trips. (Yes we know Friday is your drive day only) You have done all what was there to learn today many times before. So it’s time to push yourself a bit.
Moudy:
I felt you improved a lot today. You started to push on the gas and managed to recover yourself  twice. After every stuck your confidence was better. Now you know that the only way out is gas not brakes!! You are getting the hold of it and starting to get the feel of your car.
Kunal:
I felt you also had a better control over your car towards the end of the drive. All you need to concentrate on for now is pushing on the gas pedal a bit more. You also need to get rid of the habit of hard breaking. Overall you showed lot’s of skills compare to last time.

One small general comment for all. There is a reason behind the pace of the trip and vehicle distance. If distance is to great you are loosing track and or power because you’re approaching to slow. Always try to keep up with convoy and keep safety distance as instructed!

Nice sunny enjoyable pre-ramadan drive🌞 even though it was called freshers junior drive, there was some tactical challenges learning from Marko. It was a refreshers drive, truly a learning experience👍

Salah your leadership is truly appreciated with the safety briefing and the recovery👏👍looking forward to more drives under your leadership 👍

Thank you Pradip, it’s a pleasure to drive with you

  6. Thank you for the person specific feedback Salouh. Even as a passenger I benefited a lot. I especially loved the ‘Find your steering’ lesson, and the very specific steps that you should use to recover yourself which I used in Saturday’s drive.

You are most welcome!! I hope the next time there is Pizza, I will be done with my diet😉😉

  7. After reading the description of the trip I was apprehensive that I might not get the learning experience I was seeking. But boy was I wrong. The drive was a nice mix of straight crests and side crests that were perfectly paced for fine tuning ones cresting skills. There were a few medium speed runs that provided ample opportunity to clear the soot from your exhaust but not so fast that the tail of the convoy disappeared into the sunset. The lessons given by Marco were extremely well explained and demonstrated. It almost felt like you were taking a class in off-road driving. Salouh did a remarkable job on recovery duty and acted like a one man rescue team. Hats off to you brother, your composure under stress was commendable. My personal journey on this trip was throttle control. I was too heavy footed in the first 20 minutes or so of the drive and had to learn to feel the connection between the car and the sand and apply just the right amount acceleration for the given situation.
Thanks for a brilliant learning opportunity. I look forward to our next adventure.
