It was a beautiful crisp 9c morning on the back side of Al Qudra. Meeting time and all the players were on time for the trip. Everyone was deflated and set to go by 0650, we held the safety meeting, assigned convoy order, then lined up for the radio check.
The convoy began rolling before 0700 and entered the sand at the sun began to rise. We started off with some gentle, small rolling dunes and before long we were in a very technical area that was a lot of fun and had few tracks from other vehicles. The convoy moved expertly through the sometimes challenging terrain. We had a few second tries here, and with a tire deflation adjustment we moved along effortlessly.
The next areas of the trip were long peaky dunes that we side sloped, crested, and switched for the next 2.5 hours. This resulted in a number of stucks requiring recovery, but that’s part of the fun.
This group of DFs did a great job today. The the communication was really good and my support team made my job painless.
Thank you Chef Marc for overseeing the trip, Michael Garcia for a fantastic 2nd lead, and to Sid freeing us from the stucks.

Really a great drive Mike! Loved the progressive stages and lines. Looking forward to supporting your next one. 💪🚙💨
Congrats on one more trip Brutha!!!
Keep rocking 😎
Congratulations Mike on your 2nd trip as a lead, unfortunately I missed it again. I will make sure to be part of the next one
It was a great drive. Started on time. Couple of benign stucks that were solved in meter of minutes. There were a lot of cresting, and there where a few long stretches of “higher” speed drives between the dunes, that I really enjoyed. Find them really relaxing.
All in all great trip. Thank you Mike
Excellent drive Mike! Looking forward for your next one for sure!
See you on the sand!
Thanks Mike for the excellent drive and leadership, also for the opportunity to practice the second lead roll . Looking forward to see you in the dessert. 👍
Mike, the drive was phenomenal as some of the fellas got stuck and gave me the opportunity to get closer in earning my recovery badge. I had a blast at the back of the convoy with the chef being my shadow and observing my merits. It was also a small convoy so enjoyed the fast paced drive in qudra.
Much love,
Sid
