My Journey with the Fellas
I started my journey with the Fellas at the end of April. I had 5 Well spaced drives under my belt and trembled every time I got behind the wheel in the desert.
My first assessment from Marko, at the Ab Initio, gave me some confidence that I could do this! Every drive was a new lesson with practice on what was previously learned. I loved it so much I wS ready to buy my own Jeep (albeit a used one). My biggest challenge was cresting and switching. I told Marko what my fears were and I was heard because his next lesson included loads of switching; with the following lesson featuring Cresting – teaching theory and providing loads of practice opportunities. Β To my excitement, I was upgraded to Offroader level and the fun expanded.
The lessons are taught simply with practice after practice starting with technique, and expanding on pace. The roles within the group are very clear with each person given a specific role and responsibility for that drive. There is no hit and miss because each person is well trained for their role. The best part of Fellas is how everyone supports each other – we feel safe and comfortable around each other – we are encouraged right from the start to give and take criticism so that we can all grow in our skills and enjoy our Offroad driving experience.
I have seen the club grow from strength to strength. If you are ready to leave your ego behind, you have discipline and appreciate that Safety First is mandatory, you want to learn and be confident in the desert, Desert Fellas is the club to join.
