Hold’em up high
Today we welcomed our new graduates into the fold who’s past 6 weeks training had equipped them with the skills needed for a drive in this new area together with familiar faces with friends and family guests who wanted to understand ‘what this off-roading is all about.’
We began a gentle warm up with straight cresting before winding up to some dunes in the distance where we played around to get the adrenaline flowing and held our lines which looked like they were made by children with a spirograph toy when we made our second passes.
After a short break we visited a more technical area with low lying dune formations whereby a few second tries and self-guided recoveries were speedily carried out under Marshal Marc’s guidance.
As mid-day was soon approaching, we pushed on with higher speed passes up, down and around the slopes but with air temperatures now in the low 40’s our drivers, and their vehicles were really starting to feel the heat. Managing the engine overheating issues, we headed safely to the exit point ahead of schedule and took the opportunity to relax and enjoy the fresh coconuts and snacks on offer under the shade.
All in all, this was a fun morning in what is now becoming an extreme climate, special thanks to our support team, second lead Sara for the great comms and Marshal Marc for the expert guidance and recoveries.
