Cloud Riders
It was the 2nd time recently that we ventured around Nahil, and like last time, the longer drive there was rewarded with pristine and untouched dunes, towering sand mountains and impressive bowls to enjoy.
But now from the beginning… Our meeting point was further west from last time, allowing us to follow a long string of dunes towards Sweihan. Everyone was there before dusk, eager to see what we will find. Warming up on smaller dunes, fast side slopes and some early crests started to set the pace for this morning.
Once warmup was done, big crests were found within moments. We took time to approach each dune from several angles, trying out different approaches and simply enjoying the area. No rush to head to Nagrah, this place was already giving us everything we were looking for.
A first break after 45 minutes was needed. Cresting from east to west had low visibility from a very low sun, requiring a lot of concentration all the way. We were only one hour in, and what a blast it was already.
Continuing the line towards Sweihan, we found bigger dues, more bowls to make a round and try the same dune on a different approach. The time in this area was incredible and invites more exploration.
Once we reached the dirt road, we switched for high gears and made a swift move towards Nagrah. Once we reached the majestic sand mountain, we crested from various approaches and took the road to the skies, when the only thing you see in the windscreen is the sky.
Soon after we headed towards the exit. 10km between us and the inflation point, numerous mountains and 35 minutes left. With the sun higher, driving got easier and we moved fast from one top to another top of the dune.
Thanks for the great company Pavel and Harun, with Harun also covering the rear and guiding a self recovery.
