Ab Initio 13th Generation prospect drive 2
This bring us to another close to an Ab Initio and big welcome to Gen 13.
Morning started with a group briefing on expectations for the day before spliting into Blue and Red convoys.
Blue convoy
Led by Marko,
Supported by Sven and Javier.
Drivers were ready for the second bite in preparation for the next steps ahead to become a Fella. We started by explaining examples on radio discipline when going for a second try or when being stuck it is important to remember this all the time and announce it over the radio as per the Desert Fellas standards.
The convoy had some trouble with confidence during straight cresting and side sloping.
However, after some exercises the confidence of the convoy increased handling medium size dunes in fast paced environment.
We still have improvement to do in some in safety distance and radio communications, amongst others.
One of the fellas had some traction control issues and we had to escort him out to the designated emergency exit.
Overall we witnessed improvement from the previous trip, please keep your high level of positivism and enthusiasm. Keep up the good work!
Red Convoy
Led by ChefMarc
Supported by Talal and Sujith
We started the briefing stressing on communication and safety aspects covering approach angles towards straight cresting then side sloping. Before we started the convoy order and radio checks, one of the DF member had to leave due to radiator fluid leak. This brings a good point to check your car fluids levels and any leakage before you leave your home.
Convoy started with a sample on communication by setting up a situation for second try to bring awareness within the convoy. Followed by slide sloping and straight cresting. Few lack of confidence were seen in some of the members which was later rectified with more practices. There were two cases were the flag pole broke during the drive and both were suction cup model types. As advised during the Ab Initio, avoid suction cup model flag pole.
After few exercise on straight cresting and slide sloping we were able to see the improvement in all the new members and also gaining confidence in maintaining the correct momentum.
One of the fellas had caused a damage to his car while slide sloping and hit the front bumper into a ditch which was taken care by the sweeper.
All in all, great improvements by the fellas and glad to see the increase in confidence level. Good job all and see you soon in the next level.
Big thank you to Marko, Sven, Talal, Javier and Sujith for Support.
