Weird One – report
The day started out at 3 pm with Marko and 4 offroaders (Gonzo, Salouh, Tiago, Chefmarc) who had a training session before the trip. After a 90 minute session, the Weird One was ready to kick-off. Actually it was a secret Mission not shared with the offroaders in training but with the rest of the convoy.
The members in the convey were scattered across the desert and shared their location on group chat, the objective was for the trainees to find them and bring them back to Marko’s location within 30 min. Let’s just say it was a lot of fun, something different, but the mission failed.
We point out importance of orientation in the dessert and paying attention to trip requirements. Driving in the desert is so much more than deflate and line up. We learned how important is to determine your location in the desert and share it for emergency purposes. In next trips we will try to work on orientation more with all members.
After a quick debrief and brief for the drive ahead, the convoy got into order with trainees in rotating lead positions, Luca as second lead and David as sweeper.
Leaders shown a nice teamwork and we had good opportunity to discuss procedures and leading requirements.
There were a few new Fellas with us so drive started nice and easy and progressed gradually to a very tricky area, after a few stucks and second tries the convey started making its way back to a predetermined sunset finishing point just after 7pm.
Gianluca
Great support today you did an excellent job in term of organization of “secret mission” and trip support. Thanks a million for that, we could not pull this off without your support.
Tariq
Welcome back to Desert Fellas was great to have you with us again, join us on more junior drives, we can see you are a quick learner.
Karim
Your first official junior trip, well done with time you will learn and improve, Welcome to the gang
Pradeep
Slow day for you today not much to say, Thanks a lot for your support as a second lead on the way back to the meeting point from the rescue.
Preggy
Easy and nice day for you, thanks for the support during the rescue and for looking after the guys on the way back to the meeting point.
Aksana (the Eagle Eyes)
A few second tries and a recovery, improving a nice step. Looking forward to see you on our next trips.
Angel
The Anchor of the convoy in the middle Nice drive not much to say! Thanks for help.
S1d
Easy drive for you, today you been really quiet… proper tire pressure makes big differences.. good job
David
Putting the recovery training on practice today, thanks a lot for your help as a sweeper.
Fellas the following safety points must be followed at all times, so let’s stick to them. This time some members disregard important things such as:
– safety distance
always 4-5 car lengths nothing less, nothin more too.
– communication
When making second tries always inform us, convoy will stop, wait to complete then move on.

What a gang, all of you…. It was really nice day in the desert. Thank you all for participating…
We should have another go at this SOS drive, where everyone really spreads out thin and make it a challenge for the recovery team. Since it was my first time i didn’t understand the concept, but moving on we can stir up the hornets nest. Nice to meet all of you after few weeks break. Adios amigos.
A great learning experience on location finder. 👍 is truly tactical, which is imperative for any desert driver. Thanks Marko for this awesome & great tactical & technical learning experience 👏👏👍
Gonzalo your leadership & guidance is remarkable …& thanks for recovery (😎)
Thank you Desert Fellas for the amazing sunset drive and for learning experience. Awaiting more such drives😍
Loved the challenge and a big thanks to everyone for this learning and support. Looking forward to many more of these.
The challenge was a lot of fun, I think we should do stuff like this more often. Thank you guys all for being there to support our training and I hope you guys were not stuck for too long. It was nice to be back on the sand after the break…
Looks like this was a nice trip! Marko always comes up with new crazy ideas, it always hurts to miss these ones!! Can’t wait to get back on the sand with you guys…. I miss it so so much!!
Haha eagle eyes 🙈 it was good to be back and refresh!! Thanks again for a nice afternoon and to always be reminded about safety first!
Wish I was there guys but then Preggy would not have been using my style 😂
Thank you everyone I really enjoyed my first trip, hope to come along on more trips in the future!
Forgot to rate the trip…… five ⭐️s for sure
Thanks u all guys it was a drive to remember.
Great trip Marko!
Lots of surprises as well!
Was very challenging trying to find the lost off-roaders. It was very dinâmica drive specially because we were changing positions constantly in the fours first spots of the convoy.
Good learning points again!
See you guys soon!
Looks like you had a lot of fun.
Hope to see you soon.
It seems that you had a very interesting trip guys
Like all of the trips that I’ve been on with Desert Fellas so far, this one was another great learning experience. Only difference being that this time the learning wasn’t behind the wheel, it was on my smartphone. I’ll be the first to admit (and Rathica will agree) that I’m lazy when it comes to incorporating new technology into my life. But this time around, because it was related to something I enjoy so much, I quickly downloaded the MotionX-GPS app required for the drive and learnt the basics with some help from the group. This drive taught me that having a good GPS tracking app that doesn’t rely on cellular data can be a life saver when you are stranded off the beaten track and need to convey your location to a rescuer or Incase you get lost and needed to track your way back to where you started. Appreciate the life lesson.
