Advanced training 1
The majesty of Sweihan never seems to get old and this mornings sunrise was no different on Advanced Training 1 drive.
With Abu Dhabi boarders now open we had quite a few more convoys in the desert this morning. Our convoy started a bit later due to a Fella who missed the petrol station turn off but we quickly got him deflated with some great team work. With some reflection and congratulations on making it this far in the Desert Fellas training wich was followed by safety briefing the convoy got started on warm up.
Some Fellas were caught off gard with the faster pace from the get go but they kept their composure and remembered their trianing well. Track following and radio comunications was pristine from the beginning of the drive to the end which would be invaluable later in the drive.
After warming up the size of dunes really started to increase steadily and so did the challenges. A few second tries in some big bowls was a sign to take a well deserved break and when things started to get busy with some other convoys in the area we hit the sand and made our way to Nagrah dune. Here we spent some time climbing the sides and back of this monste, pushing the revs and speed while avoiding the grader ditch area made to reduce reckless drivers.
After 2 hours in the desert our convoy started heading towards the exit but this didn’t mean slowing down as we kept good pace with the occasional second try on the journey out. Our Advanced trainees made very little mistakes today and diciplines were spot on for the most part, I was really proud to see them perform so well in this area. After 80+ km we reach the inflation point, had a debrief and made our way home 20 min behind shedule.
Thank you to our support team today Preggy and Javier, was a great morning spent with everyone.

What a great drive! It’s good to be back on the sand with the DF training camp in such a beautiful area.
There were so many takeaways for me from this drive due to the softer sand, bigger dunes and awesome lines carved out by our lead.
Ive mentioned before it really shows how well thought out and progressive (in a safe way) the DF training program is.
Looking forward to the next one! Thanks to Marc, preggy and javier for their guidance and support!
