The last crossing
It was a great morning in the desert, with the early signs of a colder season showing. All fellas and felicitas arrived at the meeting point before dawn to get ready for the upcoming adventure. The recent rain promised to make it an interesting drive.
After a short warmup, we set off in the general direction of gravity bowl. The numerous smaller dunes provided endless side slopes to enjoy the route and get used to the different conditions. The upper layer of sand was dry, but just beneath it, it was still wet and slippery, which made longer climbs more challenging.
Once we reached the bigger dunes in Bayader, we started with a series of climbs, which caused one passenger to get motion sickness. After a short break, we accompanied them to a safe exit point and continued.
With everyone in the groove, we increased the pace a bit, looked for bigger climbs and longer side slopes. It was a joy to see how our group mastered all obstacles despite the unusual terrain.
Once we reached Iftar bowl, we found a very chopped-up and muddy track, which made it even harder to mount this beast. After a few rounds, we started to move towards the exit to conclude a great morning drive.
Thanks to everyone who attended this morning, Sara for being 2nd lead, Anders with the watchful eye as sweeper, and Marko for giving some guidance during the trip.
Hope to see you soon on the sand again.
