Kicking off Sunday mornings the right way! Our crew assembled under the first rays of sunshine on what would shape up to be a glorious morning. A very quiet desert, almost exclusively ours for the first hour and a half of our trip.

We started with a quick safety briefing, ensuring everyone and their cars were fit to drive, before jumping straight into a warmup session.

Soon after our warmup we were powering up some of the larger dunes across the Nazwa plains, making pass after pass around the windswept bowls. Despite being a super popular area, we still managed to carve plenty of fresh tracks and find some interesting lines across the sand formations.

We raced on towards pink rock, and after a couple of quick passes up the face, we decided it was simply too chewed up and bumpy, with lots more rocks and debris than usual. Passing around the back, we drove a couple of passes around the chef’s bowl area, waiting for another convoy to move on, before we stopped and settled down to take a longer break.

With camp chairs out, drinks and snacks passing round the group and conversation flowing, we spent a great hour catching up, basking in the rising sun and watching a few other convoys and buggies moving around the area.

Refreshment stop over and the cars cooled down, we turned back the way we came, kicking it up a gear and taking on the bigger dune formations with a bit more speed and tougher lines.

With Big Red in sight, we were almost at the finale, but unfortunately one of our group had an electrical failure, (hopefully just a dead battery,) which required the car to be towed out. With time running thin now, we split up, with our trusty sweeper Darinka leading the final KM along the dust track, and our Marshall Marc towing the sleeping car, we quickly reached the exit to inflate.
