Star gazers
Anticipation for this trip was building for the entire week. So, when camping day finally arrived, it felt like the first day of the school holidays.
With cars packed and excited messages filling up the group chat it was clear that the Star Gazers were wanted to get this desert party started as soon as possible. Some Gazers took the opportunity to arrange to meet at a location just outside Jebel Ali so that they could drive together as a convoy. Since we had a member leaving work a little later than others, and sure to reach the campsite after sunset, we decided to meet at the start of the gravel track that led to the campsite, and drive to the campsite in a single convoy.
Upon arrival at the campsite we were immediately awestruck by the density and brilliance of the stars in our galaxy that were clearly visible with our naked eyes. Having the moon in the first phase of its new cycle meant that we could see a greater depth of stars and the Star Gazers got exactly what they signed up for. The rest of the night was spent in the company of some easy going chilled out Desert Fellas and their guests – eating, talking, laughing and just enjoying the break from our otherwise busy lives.
This relaxed camp and easy mid-morning safari style drive the following morning was a great start to the camping season. Zoubeir and Victor, I hope that your guest enjoyed the experience. Thanks for the awesome company and hope to repeat the experience in another scenic part of this beautiful country.

This sounds like one awsome camp experience. I’m sorry I missed rhe first night but I think we definitely made up for it on the 2nd night. 🔥
It was my first time experiencing so many shooting stars. They were all over the place. It did not matter if you missed the first one, there was always a second, and another one to follow it. The milky way scenery left me in awe!
It was also one of the quietest nights I have ever spent in the desert. It was so peaceful which made sleeping in a tent so much more enjoyable.
The next morning’s drive was very much enjoyable and peaceful. It is great to take some time off and absorb the scenery. Fast n furious is nice, but you need a break sometimes.
Thoroughly enjoyed the company and great food! The cheesy-boerewors were a killer and so were the Arayesssss!
Thank you Preggy for organizing such a trip, Johann, Victor & co, Hussam for the lovely company.
It is to be noted that since the UAE announced 4.5 working days, this is the first time we’ve organized a Friday. It is a bit tiring on the Friday but with a little preparation, it is doable. You make it up on Saturday when, by 3pm, you’re home. And for people like me working on Sundays, this is a blessing.
P.S: Looking forward to the next one now that I have a new tent haha!
What a nice night this was, meeting before the official weekend start has even made it better!
I loved the campsite area, nice and peaceful and the sky was a live entertainment show, the company of you guys was as always, the most important highlight of the trip.
Thank you Preggy for the amazing organization, I loved the exploration drive next morning as well. Thanks Zoubier, Vic and the family (now Maxime knows what fun driving looks like 😉), Johann thanks for the laughs and all, looking forward to the next camp.
