Satan’s Rock
With Christmas weekend right around the corner it was the perfect opportunity to enjoy a Friday afternoon Santan’s Rock drive before enjoying the festive season with family and friends.
Reaching the meeting point at 2pm the weather was cool and greetings from the Fellas and their families put us all in high, festive spirits, especially when Theirry brought out some Santa hats for everyone to use on the drive that went down a special treat with the young ones during the safety briefing. With all the checks done we went on a warmup towards Big Red taking quite easy for the guests and young ones to enjoy the sights.
Reaching the back of Big Red we climbed to the top and took a break for some photos and watched a few locals play in the dunes with their modified late model Rav4s. The kids were getting a bit hungry at this point, so we started our way toward Chefs Bowl. Along the way we took a more scenic route with lager dunes on our approach, finding the perfect lines for some side sloping and bowl surfing to reach our spot in good time. Here we had a nice flat and sheltered area to set up for snacks and enjoy each other’s company while the children played in the backdrop of the stunning views.
As the sun was dropping close to the horizon the convoy packed up and made our way to the exit, this time to approach from the back of 2nd December with smoother sands that had no tracks. This part of the drive was much less bumpy without the other car tracks and gave us the opportunity to pick up a bit of speed on the slopes. Before the exit the kids were all begging for one more stop to have a quick game of tag and I have to admit the view from here was spectacular of Pick rock.
We reached the exit with a few minutes to spare and left us all with even bigger grins than when we started our drive. thank you all for a great start to the weekend and look forward to our next, a very merry Christmas to all.
