Sand hopper
Sand hopper got off to a slightly delayed start due to our GPS apps not recognizing the meeting point as being off the main road. This led to most of the drivers having to travel an additional 10 km to make a loop around.
Fortunately for the sand hoppers, sunrise was also delayed, and starting the drive any earlier would have mandated offroad driving lights. Once we did eventually get going, the convoy was thrown straight into a technical area which demanded masterful execution of all the skills they learnt during basic training.
The warm up had barely begun, when Marshall Marc announced that one of the cars in the convoy had a pop out, and summoned our sweeper to action. Hussam (SW) did a remarkable job repairing the pop out and getting the show on the road again.
From that point on the sand hoppers drove their hearts out and displayed great skill in annihilating every challenge that was thrown at them. After the mid-drive break, the terrain changed and the pace of the drive increased. Every member of the convoy did a great job of maintaining the high pace and keeping the flow of the entire group.
After three hours of tearing through the moist winter sand, the sand hopper convoy was completely in the zone and probably able to continue driving for at least another hour. But alas, all good things have to come to an end and this amazing drive was no exception.
Thanks Hussam for the spot on sweeping, Martin for doing a commendable job as second lead and Marshall Marc for keeping a watchful eye on the convoy and not missing anything. I look forward to my next drive with this energetic group.

It’s one of the most fun drives I’ve had in a long time! Excellent driving from all and great lines from Preggy. The last hour of fast-paced climbs and side slopes was exhilarating. Big thanks for this drive, and keep pushing team you guys did amazing
A brilliant drive with Preggy selecting a real variety of challenges from technical to high speed side slopes and a couple of higher climbs. Amazing convoy with only one pop out, one stuck and a couple of second tries that were handled quickly and smoothly by Hussam. Thank you for the trust in positioning me as second lead – I enjoyed the challenge! A great start to the weekend, thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was great seeing all fellas flowing in style in rather technical and different area than some have previously tried.
Thank you Preggy for great great lines as usual and all the guidance, and thanks to Marshal Marc for keeping us all under watch 😉 Thanks Martin for a great 2nd lead as well, always good to see you all.
