Round and Around

Today’s convoy was another small and experienced Off-roader convoy which provided all the motivation and confidence we needed to drive further and explore more of what the desert around Badayer had to offer.
We headed off into a rather deserted desert. It could have been our perfect timing or the coincidental alignment of the sun and the moon, whatever the case, we had the desert to ourselves in what looked like a scene from an apocalyptic movie. There wasn’t another car or convoy in sight for more than an hour. It was such a pleasure to be able to attempt high challenges multiple times without worrying about an oncoming convoy or the lone flagless desert prowler suddenly popping up behind a dune.

We stopped for our first break after 40 minutes of continuous driving and it could not have come sooner. The first leg of the drive demanded intense concentration, and all the twists and turns provided an amazing upper arm workout. The drive was silent for most part, with radio silence only broken on a few occasions by the lead announcing a short step or steep descent.

The convoy took every challenge that was thrown at them and just kept going. Today’s drive explored two new challenges and a route  that required razor sharp focus but is also Advanced Junior friendly. The challenges comprised of high controlled climbs and some high crossings which tested control and knowledge of one’s vehicle. So guess where the next Advanced Junior drive is gonna be…..
