River side

As the festive season is now in full swing it was a great opportunity to take a relaxing Jr drive to River side lake for a breakfast get together.

A later start than usual meant we could all have a bit of lie in which was well appreciated for the younger guests on the drive. There was still a chill in the air during the briefing which was quickly remedied with a quick warm up before some fast paced side sloping but not before we had a stuck on a short but sharp straight crest.

Now with warm up done, the convoy covered some serious distance in an hour. Usally we spend a few hours to navigate the transition from larger dunes to technical and back to bigger dunes, but thisĀ  morning there was intent to reach our picnic area near the boarder of Abu Dhabi in good time for our breakfast.

The second half of our journey saw us enter a newer area with some long side slopes then followed by a very challenging technical area with tightly packed larger dunes that will put the infamous egg box are to shame. Here we had several stuck situations that gave some good training for our recovery team. Putting this technical area in our rear view mirrors gave us a good sence of accomplishment and relief as we finally reached the lake.

Morning camp was set and we spent the next hour enjoying the serene water surroundings with freshly made blueberry pancakes and Karak tea. After a great morning out in the dunes it was time to head back home and the convoy made it to the exit point right on shedule.

Thanks to the whole convoy and our recovery team for the support. Those who are travelling enjoy the holidays and see you back on the sand soon, and those who are not even sooner
