Ride … yes, it was an interesting one and quite bumpy. Our plan was to play in the white sands behind Solar Park and then move to the fast plains of al Faqqa, but let’s start from the beginning.

All fellas arrived early at the meeting point, with the outlook of a great ride. Safety briefing was done, and we went to a quick start.

The white sand behind the solar park looks like an amazing playground, but it is also a tricky one with slippery sand. We moved across those dunes, shifting between faster side sloping and more technical sections which commanded more throttle control. It was a blast, with low dunes to start and higher ones the more we went into the deeper end of the pool of sand. Some sections were tricky, so we had some second tries, but everyone enjoyed the challenges.

We stayed here for 45 min to have a good time, then quickly crossed a flat area before our first break.  As soon as we entered al Faqqa, we realized two things. One, it looks like a gardener went wild and put some bushes in even spacing all across the area. Two, cloud seeding works.

The area blossoms all over, and if you look from the right angle, the desert looks like a full carpet of grass.

However, for offroading in the desert, this makes navigation quite tricky. We followed a route that was a mix of nice dunes and avoiding too many bushes. We managed to get in a good number of fast side slopes, nice climbs and driving near the top of the dune to stay out of the flowerbed.

A technical area with soft sand provided a reprieve from all the new greenery and made driving more challenging. In one area, we got two pop outs, which we used to give everyone a break while our sweeper went to work getting those tires back on the rim.

Towards the end of the drive, we found an area with little vegetation and used all the remaining time to enjoy pure sands.

Thanks, Anders, for the sweeper duties today, Nowar as 2nd lead. Hope you all enjoyed the drive
