Red dawn

Red dawn was an apt name for this sunrise drive which was set against the backdrop of the red iron rich sands of Nazwa.

Today’s drive was special because the Junior convoy, which was led by Marshall Marc, started and ended their drive in the same location as our Advanced Junior convoy. It was quite a pleasant experience sharing the desert with our Junior Fellas, as it reminded us that we are part of a much larger group, and this sense of camaraderie added to the enjoyment of the drive.

The warm up on the small dunes near  Nazwa farms went amazingly well considering how long we’ve been away from this area. It wasn’t long before the Red dawn convoy approached the big dune behind Big Red where a nice smooth flow was established. The convoy sped into and around the big bowls while switching and cresting like it was the most natural thing in the world for them.

After a short break at the base of Big Red we continued our exploration of this topographical icon before heading off to Pink Rock. The pace was increased further and the convoy just got tighter and more focused. It was almost  as if there was a magnetic force between the cars that got stronger as the pace increased, pulling them closer together.

On our approach to Pink Rock it became apparent that the big bowl at Pink Rock was too crowded to accommodate our convoy so we did a quick drive through and made the most of the small bowls just northwest of Pink Rock, before exiting at 2nd December.

Red dawn convoy can hold their heads up high for having completed a fairly challenging  61 kilometer drive while maintaining Desert Fellas strict codes of safety and discipline.

Thanks to the dream team: Marko, Hussam (SL) and Zoubeir (SW) for keeping the convoy moving like a bullet train.

  1. Summer’s definitely round the corner and we felt it towards the end of the drive.
Red Dawn was a combination drive in one of my favorite areas. Due to high number of off-roading convoys in the winter, the crests were almost flattened. However, we managed to reshape those crests again to flatten them even more! 😀

I enjoyed the high paced drive and pushed the car a lot over some big dunes switches.

At the meeting point, I was a bit confused as I saw Marshal Marc first and his Jr convoy. I thought I had the wrong coordinates. It was pleasant for both convoys to meet up. All throughout the drive, we crossed each other and stopped for breaks at the same time and places. The discipline and parking formation for both convoys was beautiful to see. I’m glad to be part of it!

Thanks to everyone who was part of the drive. Preggy – beautiful artistic lines as usual 🙂
It was a truly enjoyable Friday morning and looking forward to the next!

This kind of morning drive should be declared mandatory to start the week end 😉

Thx Preg for the opening, Hussam and Zoubeir for the care and to all others who were with us this morning.

It was really nice to see that team spirit and high paced drive with almost no second tries, the convoy was disciplined in a way that the drive seemed very easy though it was challenging.

I’m so proud of what we all have achieved and learned, it is indeed a dream team, Preggy, thank you for everything, and thanks to the whole team 💪
