On the rocks
ON THE ROCKS was one of those drives that started slowly, but once it gathered momentum was difficult to stop because the convoy was having so much fun.
The convoy warmed up by cresting on small dunes near Nazwa farms. The.extremely sharp and soft crests created by the recent rain and heavy winds in this area meant that vehicle placement and control had to be precise, to avoid getting pulled off the crest or stuck. It also meant that the pace was slow and controlled, rather than fast and furious. Our convoy managed this segment of the drive brilliantly, by maintaining the appropriate following distance and pace.
On our way to Big Red the convoy was treated to an opportunity for brushing up on their reverse switching skills. The first switch on the steep leeward slope of a dune caught our new off-roader off guard. But with a few repetitions, he got the hang of it and started to really enjoy it.
At Big Red the convoy completed some high climbs and crossed over the gigantic dune multiple times.
The rest of the drive was dedicated to driving in bowls of different sizes, en route to Pink rock. Bowl driving was not a challenge for this convoy, but it was clearly the most enjoyable part of the drive.
The convoy exited the desert on schedule. Thanks Hussam (SL) for your support on this trip. Anders, you handled the challenges on today’s drive superbly.

I enjoyed every minute of the drive and loved the fact that it was maybe less than 15 minutes total for stops/ breaks throughout the whole trip.
This trip was the first real “summer trip” for me, the heat was something and the tepm difference in these 2 hours was crazy my tires went almost 5 psi up in about 70 minutes from the start, it is again this time of the year, so let us check our tire pressure at stops, sorry guys, I will probably start being antisocial soon and stick to being under the AC in my Jeep during stops, see you in November 😂
Thank you Preggy for all the guidance, always drawing artistic lines and your comradery really, thanks Anders it was nice having you, delete that photo and we are square 😂
