Offroad Discovery
Another beautiful morning out in the winter sands of Al Qudra made this 20th edition of Desert Fellas Offroad Discovery absolutely perfect.
We had a smaller group of enthusiasts today but all came very eager to learn, and Offroad Discovery is the best place for that experience. We had a slightly late start with one attendee getting stuck a few hundred meters from the meeting point. This was the perfect challenge to warm up our sweeper.
Our introductions and presentation was thorough, informative and brisk, one of the benifts of a smaller group. After this we shared our plan and safety briefing before warm up. As with all Discovery sessions we began with the basics of climbing, crossing and descending a dune. Starting small and slowly progressing as confidence grows throughout the group.
As expected there were many second tries and some stucks. As the morning heated up so did our tires which increase the pressure so at one point during the drive a quick pressure check and deflation was needed to keep rocking the dunes. We managed to finish the morning session on time, bid fairwell to a few atendees before taking a lunch break to fuel up for the afternoon session.
During the afternoon the warm up was much faster and we could definitely see a lot more confidence in the convoy, this was a good sign to step up the fun factor with some side sloping. This was the absolute highlight of the day I think its safe to safe the convoy enjoyed from the great praise and comments.
The last part we took a nice easy route to the exit as one car was showing an oxygen sensor fault code on the OBD reader, not serious but a sign of us having a lot of fun!
Thank you all for a great day, a pleasure to meet you all and look forward to seeing you on the sand soon. Thanks to Hussam for the support today and keeping the convoy safe.
