Easy Ride

Easy Ride turns out to be not so easy.

Everyone was on time at the briefing, respect team! This is already standard now.

This day was THE DAY with less driving but more issues. We had 3 car breakdowns.

  1. During the warmup we were forced to stop because Xterra was overheating. Problem was leakage of coolant. This  problem was know to the driver from before. Hope that we learned now that the car has to be ready as we are pointing that out in every trip description under “Please Note”. So, we can say “told you so” and ask you to remember this: If your car has issues and if you think that nothing will happen, it’s gonna happen. Only question is how deep in the desert and how much problems can be caused. Let me point this out once for all. If your car is not ready or to say in good mechanical order, DO NOT take it in the desert, take it to the shop.
  2. During to side sloping we had issue with Pajero 2015. Engine lamp went on and smoke came out from exhaust so we took him out from the desert.
  3. Red FJ stopped “breathing” so it was low on power but he came back after while. From some reason pipe from air filter to engine was completely detached. We are all curious to hear what experts are going to say about this situation.

Drivers, please inform us under this article what was the outcome.

All this issues were good training for our trip supporters where Salouh and Preggy showed a lot of skills and knowledge.

After 3rd issue we decided to wrap it out. We were playing on our way out.

However we didn’t get the chance to drive a lot but we had couple very good lessons, driving and mechanical wise.

Please share your experience from today’s trip.

      1. The issue was MAF sensor is dead and need to be replaced, car is in good condition now and ready for the next ride , and thanks god it wasn’t expensive to fix .
It’s amazing how very small part can cause a big issue

You are welcome, n no need to apologize, can happen to any of us, we are there to lift each other up

  2. Interesting ride in the Al Qudra dunes, besides the unfortunate breakdowns there was more entertainment , a wake up call for some campers , a visit by our regular-to-become camel rider and a brave off-road cyclist ; nice to practice some sloping , looking froward to more miles ; thank you Marko and team

  3. Although, there were lots of stops today trying to fix the car issues and getting the drivers to the exit point, I enjoyed the day, weather is now nice and we were lucky again to bump into our camel 🐪 freind.
Will keep you posted about the sudden detachment of the air filter pipe after my visit to the garage.
    See u all next week

    1. He must have a GPS tracker on us now 😯

  4. First time I see a 4×4 have to exit the desert today and it wasn’t 1 but 3! Crazy!! Just shows how important it is to keep on top of everything!! Hope you all get fixed up soon!!

Thanks for the trip Marko, was good practice drilling the side sloping and thanks for the feedback!! Salouh, Pradeep, thanks for helping the fellas out of the desert who needed to get to the road, allowing the rest of us to keep driving!! Preggy, clear coms as always, thanks for keeping us up to date on the conditions ahead!!

    Looking forward to next weekend!!!!

  5. Yeah interesting one for sure, hope the guys cars are back on the road soon with minimum spending!!! Part and parcel of the hobbie we do I suppose. Although we didn’t get far, the driving parts were still fun. Some nice dunes up qudra! Looking forward to getting back out there soon. Cheers all

  6. I saw a Croatian wearing a fleece jacket during the safety briefing. This must be a sign that winter is finally here😁. We had a pretty large convoy and it is always a challenge managing such a big group. Salouh and Pradeep did a great job keeping the convoy tight.
We spent a lot of time practicing side sloping today. This was done to give you a better understandIng of how your car behaves on different sand textures and at different gradients. It is also to ensure that you will not hesitate when facing this challenge during higher level drives. So please be patient and attentive. Every try is an opportunity to improve your previous attempt. You just have to remain focused and “feel” your vehicle.
I enjoyed the energy of the group today. Keep that up👍. I hope that your car problems are resolved soon and that you will all be able to join us in the desert next week.
    Have an amazing week.
