The Discovery Off-Road Session kicked off once again this morning, and even though we’re now well into summer, the sunrise temperatures were still a pleasant reminder of why early desert starts are so rewarding.

With a smaller group and an ambitious plan to beat the midday heat, we wasted no time getting started. In fact, we were slightly ahead of schedule from the outset, allowing us to make the most of the cooler morning conditions before the desert turned up the thermostat.

We began with the fundamentals, vehicle preparation, safety, and convoy discipline. The theory session flowed smoothly, with plenty of engagement, thoughtful questions, and a strong focus from everyone involved. Before long, we were ready to put that knowledge into practice.

The first dune crossing went smoothly, and it wasn’t long before we progressed into more challenging terrain. A few stucks along the way provided valuable learning opportunities and were quickly recovered. With confidence growing, we stepped things up a notch with a masterclass in side-sloping before setting off on an epic desert drive.

The route took us deep into the dunes, exploring the wild beauty of the desert. Hours of driving, learning, and laughter somehow felt like only minutes as we navigated ridge after ridge. Before we knew it, we were making our way back out of the desert, safely completing the session exactly as planned, well before the midday sun reached its full intensity.
