Desert Pirating
We had an awesome weather this morning, thanks to everyone who could make in time, will appreciate if next time everyone will be ready with wheel deflation by briefing time.
We have started with a warm up on technical area where we have had a few second attempts and recoveries between first checkpoints. We met another convoy which crossed our track in some point. By the first hour of the drive we reached medium terrain where one of the driver had a communication difficulties, with a decision from Marshal we dropped driver to the nearest exit. Our journey proceed to soft and extremely soft patches where team had to work with challenging recoveries in tight conditions, thank you for your patience.
We made an exit in planed time.
Big thanks and respect to support team for clear guides to the rest of the convoy, you made a drive in a safe phase.
Hope to see u all soon on sand.

Nice drive and pace, liked the technical dunes, which added experience to everyone in my opinion! Thank you Alex for the lead, Salah and Rathica for support!
It was a good drive today, despite a few hiccups. It was a new experience with new dunes.
Great lead by Alex , very enjoyable track with soft sand to challenge the drivers.
Hope to drive here again , see you all next time!
This was an unusual trip. Most participants arrived on time and all were in high spirits. The terrain was tricky due to the very soft sand- short dunes packed closely together with sharp crests. A few recoveries and retries were required which led to more waiting time rather than drive time. A few much needed strategy talks among the team also decreased drive time. Nevertheless, drivers still kept their spirits high.
A repetition of what I discussed with drivers:
The standard driving distance in a drive is 4-5 cars to ensure that the convoy does not stretch out so long that drivers cannot see the track. Each drive is designed to develop your skills for more challenging dunes and higher speeds where if the distance is not right you can easily lose the track putting yourself and the drivers behind you in danger.
You want to see how the car in front behaves on the dune so that you can adjust your speed or momentum accordingly e.g. If his/her car’s Tyre is spinning – means You need more momentum ; their car wobbles when crossing a dune means there’s probably a bump so approach with caution…
When there is a challenge: high climb or side sweep – the gap is bigger e.g. In a high side sweep, you will wait for the driver to climb and cross at least half way across the curve of the side sweep before you begin to climb. That way you give them Enough space to take appropriate action (turn down) if they lose momentum and the car slides and you can do the same so you don’t crash into them. If a car is climbing a dune, wait for them to cross the crest before you begin the climb. If you don’t see their flag and you are unsure ask for a “clear”. The rest of the Drive – maintain a 4-5 car distance. Golden Rule: use your common sense.
It was wonderful driving with you. Right now the weekend seems so far away🙁
Drive safe and see you on the sand 👑 🚙 💨
Very good observation and explanation, thank you Rathica
