Cosmic Wheels an autumn morning drive
The waning days of summer, with the sun rising later each morning, had us gazing at the starry heavens as we embarked on our cosmic wheels drive.
The onset of cooler days signaled the approach of autumn and we were already discussing at the meeting point that its only a few more weeks before winter’s camping season starts. But before we could get too carried away, it was time to leave our tracks in the sand.
Today’s adventure welcomed us with a few pristine slopes that promised a smooth ride during our warm-up journey towards Pink Rock. This sand giant provided a thrilling experience as we became the day’s pioneers, carving fresh tracks atop the mountain. Multiple heart-pounding passes later, we decided to take a breather at Chef’s Bowl, a perfect spot for a well-deserved break and a view.
Sharing this thrilling experience with great company always makes time slip away unnoticed. Before we knew it, we were back in action, kicking up the sand once more.
The second half of our journey demanded heightened focus, as we navigated through multiple bowls and tight turns, causing one passenger to request a quick break to regain their ‘sea legs’ before tackling the challenging crests of the Red dunes. These dunes turned out to be the highlight of the day, as we sought out the most technical and daring lines, leading us to untouched terrain that had remained pristine for weeks, offering silky-smooth slopes for our enjoyment. Wrapping up our morning drive with some daring climbs and exhilarating bowls, left the entire convoy with big smiles and a satisfying sense of accomplishment.
Many thanks for an outstanding morning in the dunes. We’ll see you on the sand again soon!
