Bowling with Gouls
Trip and Report by Anders
We started bright and early, with everyone on time. Todays goal was a fun drive through the desert from South to North in the Al Madam area ending with a little adventure to the ghost village.
We warmed up gradually as we worked our way to the first bowl, the sand was very soft in some places but nothing not excepted here in the heat of summer.
It didn’t take long until we come across the first of many bowls and we started the bowling part of the drive, moving from one bowl to the next one until we reached Super Bowl.
So far so good, so we changed direction towards the Ghost Village, to get there we had to navigate a technical area, nothing we haven’t done before many times, so how hard can it be, right? Well, this turned into the most interesting part of the drive, I can safely say it is the most technical area I have ever crossed, if was a lot of fun and the convoy did a great job snaking its way through it. The whole area had much more diversity in the form of vegetation, wind erosion and terrain than we normally see.
Only a little delayed, we made to the Ghost Village which has now become the first gated community of ghosts in the UAE as far as I know. Before it was possible to drivee into the village, but now a fence has been erected around it, with a guard on the only entrance. The guard however was kind and let us go in on foot to explore the area a bit, which we did. So now we can add cultural activities to the DF menu 🙂
It was a fun and interesting drive, and I look forward to our next one.
Big thanks to Ryan and Marcin for keeping the convoy together and safe!
