Blue Pill – Scramble
Recovery equipment put to the test!
Tyres deflated and safety briefing done we got straight into this technical area consisting of lots of desert shrubbery, sharp crests and low lying dune formations.
At a low and slow pace, we made our way through the terrain which required full concentration from our drivers to navigate the tracks, and maintain convoy disciplines.
To our satisfaction the area opened up and we took the opportunity to change the pace, put the pedal to the metal for higher speed slide sloping fun. Here we took the opportunity to take a break to let the engines cool, this spot provided a good vantage point to assess the terrain around us and to see what it had in store for us, so back into the quagmire we went!
The sand now very soft in parts and crests becoming sharper there were several assisted recoveries carried out by Marshall Marko which took longer than planned and highlighted the importance that all drivers must carry a full set of their own safety equipment whenever they enter the desert, irrespective of the driving level.
Temperatures and humidity rising we pushed through, the dunes opened up once again for some higher speed fun before making our way to the exit slightly behind schedule.
Another great start to the weekend with all good experiences added to our off-roading tool boxes, Special thanks to Marshall Marko for the support and guidance and our SL Sara.
We will definitely be revisiting this area again to see how deep this rabbit hole goes…
