Basic training lesson 1
With the new off-road season revving up, we’ve got our first bunch of trainees diving into their off-road adventures with lesson 1. It’s always rewarding to see our trainees brimming with excitement, all laser-focused on the task at hand, mixing a dose of curiosity with a pinch of nerves.
Our morning turned into a bit of a rig-race, as the trainees grappled with the nitty-gritty of prepping their rigs for the desert drive, which, by the way, is par for the course for the first few lessons. Once we breezed through safety checks and briefings, it was pedal to the metal for the warm-ups.
Smooth sailing for a bit, until our trusty sweeper hit a snag with the throttle body malfunctioning. We swiftly got him to the emergency exit, ensuring he was off to the garage for a quick fix before continuing the adventure.
Into our technical training area we went, expecting a fair share of recoveries, but to our surprise, this crew hardly batted an eyelash, pulling off a piece-of-cake self-recovery before our morning snack break.
Recharged for the next leg, our convoy braved more challenging terrain, tackling bigger and badder dunes, which of course ment numerous stuck but with our experience 2nd sweeperat hand, convoy got moving after some nifty self and kinetic recoveries, and was time well spent gaining experience.
Winding down the morning at Moon Lake, our senior, the legendary Martin, treated everyone to ice cream, during the debrief before we cruised to the inflation point.
A round of applause for acing lesson 1, and a massive shoutout to our trailblazers Sven and Martin for having our backs. Buckle up, folks, lesson 2 awaits!

Winter is Coming! First drive of the season with the windows down and the a/c off.
This group of trainees displayed great skill and confidence with Chef Marc raising the bar on BT1. A few second ties and self recoveries plus a couple of rope pulls in a nasty technical area didn’t deter this team. A lot of ground was covered and the training is certainly building a foundation for the next level.
Oh, and my 4th ever stuck so this drive was memorable!!
