Basic training 7
Only one word to describe this mornings drive…. EPIC!
Our convoy was a bit small today due to some Fellas not being able to attend and one Fella had to cancel last minute due to an ill family member. Nevertheless we continued and smaller convoys have the advantage of being very agile in the dune which really made this drive special.
Our objective was to fix and work some disciplines in preparation for advance training so we wasted no time and warmed up making our way towards Pink Rock. This site is usually busy with other divers and convoys and today was no different, their track made our route very bumpy at time so our shock absorbers got a good work out.
By the time we reached the bigger dunes, bowls and Pink Rock warm up was completed and the fun really started. Surfing from bowl to bowl and climbing up, down and side all over Pink Rock. After a quick few passes past Chefsbowl the pace and level increased towards Big Red.
Once we reached Big Red it was clear our trainee had fixed all his disciplines and we took the opportunity to push a little bit harder. Malcolm was really driving hard with excellent control and disciplines, so much so it’s the first time a trainee was able to climb Big Red from the back.
After exploring every bit of this epic dine formation we continued to push all the back to Pink Rock with even high pace and excellent flow, so push a little bit more with some elements of Advanced training and our trainee kept with the pace and challenge.
After only 2 hours and 45 min, the drive ended with a new record for distance at this level and area, close to 80km. Thank you Preggy for you sweeper support and congratulations Malcolm you really kill it.
See you all next week.
