Basic training 3
Picture-perfect morning with hot air balloons scattered across the sky, giving us a whimsical welcome to the day!
Lesson 3 brought a plethora of new experiences, and today our trainees realized the paramount importance of proper preparation, gear, theory and driver diciplines. Putting theory into action, they grappled with car manoeuvrability, gear ratios, and throttle control, finding their confidence soar as they tackled even greater challenges.
Our first hurdle was navigating the post-rain desert, prompting adjustments in tire pressure to prevent any unwelcome blowouts. Naturally, with limited experience, we encountered a few pop outs, some quickly resolved while others demanded finesse.
Subsequent challenges led to a few stuck situations and self-recoveries, especially in the tricky terrain. Luckily, our prior practical exercises came in handy, making these tough spots slightly more manageable.
The slower pace induced by the damp sand meant we fell behind schedule. However, triumphantly clearing the egg box dunes, we swiftly shifted into high gear, relishing the faster-paced side slopes towards the exit.
A grueling day it was, conquering numerous daunting obstacles. Yet, the covered lessons left our team fortified and more adept, eagerly anticipating the next set of challenges.
A big shoutout to our supporting stars, Martin and Ryan, for their tireless sweeping efforts today, and kudos to the trainees for displaying exceptional determination and focus in accomplishing all objectives. See you all in the dunes next week!

A grueling morning with new lessons and skills to learn but this group of trainees displayed tenacity and enthusiasm and pushed through to exit the desert as stronger, more confident drivers. We were also blessed to witness another convoy showing us exactly how NOT to do it and reinforcing why the DF training is second to none. Hats off to you guys, well done today and I look forward to the next one.
