Basic training 2

Earlier start ment a cool breeze greeted our trainees on Basic training lesson 2 drive.

But things soon started heating up with a good warmup before tackling some striaght crests. Here good convoy dicipline, saftey distance and quick radio comunications was the main exercise makeing them more comfortable with the steep drops and building good muscles memory for future drives.

After some nice practice we were lucky enough to cross paths with a large heard of camels, so with this picturesque back drop we took the opportunity to take a break and enjoy some freshly brewed homemade Karak before continuing with the day’s lesson.

Entering a technical area it was time to engage our low range gearing, which of course is a completely new drive game. Mastering when is the proper time to use it doesn’t always come intuitively so this was a great opportunity to learn car behaviour especially in a challenging area and challenging it was. It took us a long time to cross this streched with multiple pop outs and many second tries but surprisingly no rope recoveries which is unusual for lesson 2, this group has some talented drivers and quick learners to thank for that.

A few more car control and low range exercises were on the shedule and after completing them we made our way towards the exit but not before fixing 2 more pop outs, 1 of them was a lone explorer who need our help and luck was on his side for crossing our path.

Thank you team for a excellent lesson 2 completion, many development points to improve but that’s normal and part of the learing process. Big thanks to the supporting crew for helping keep our trainees safe. See you all next week for lesson 3.
