Another generation of desert drivers started their journey today with Desert Fellas Basic training lesson 1.

With some socialising while we deflated this morning spirits where high and a bit anxious in anticipation for the days challanges ahead. During the morning saftey briefing and trip plan some good questions were covered before the warm-up began.

As always we start with more familiar terain and challenges from discovery, with repetitions for confidence building. In know time our trainees were feeling more confident and hence the challanges increase to get them out of their comfort zones to catalyst growth of skills. With some tricky striaght cresting we finally put our sweeping team to work with quite a few recoveries but in no time the team started clearing these obstacles with easy and grace.

Not long after crossing the technical dunes and reaching more challenging ones, one of or trainees had over heating issues and after some inspection discovered a radiator leak which reinforced the importance of a proper skid plate.

1. At this point we decided to tow the car to the emergency exit point and end the drive. Today we had covered most of the driving elements and made good progress to start next week strong for lesson 2.

Thanks to our supporting team Fouad and Ryan for keeping the convoy safe all the way to the exit and our new generation of trainees for a job well done. Looking forward to next week and seeing their progression toward confident and very capable dune drivers.
