Badayer Sand Storm
Everyone arrived on time! Thumbs up guys!
6 AM we started the briefing and defined convoy positions.
Tiago as the trip leader, Marko as Second Lead(later on replaced by Angel), Karen, Angel, Mahmood, Preggy, Sid, Pradeep, Chris and Mike as Sweeper.
We started slow to warm up and it took some time until the whole convoy could gather momentum because of heavy traffic from other clubs as well as the starting point is in a very technical area. We had a few stucks and several second tries.
After clearing this technical area, Angel took as Second Lead and Marko stayed on the sides of the convoy. We managed to hit a nice sequence of crests until arriving in the backside of the Iftar Bowl. Chris had some issue with his power steering, so we moved him towards the front of the convoy. Once we were in the Iftar Bowl we did some training on controlling the cars on the way down as well as some rides to the top of this massive dune!
After, we proceeded on our way towards the exit trying to do as much cresting as possible. Again, stucks (including the trip leader) and several second tries.
We noticed that overall performance was dropping as we were getting tired so we decided to drop the level a bit to be able to be safe on the way out of the desert.
As a group we MUST improve our communication guys! When someone go for second try WE KEEP CONVOY ORDER!
Marko: Thanks for the opportunity to lead this trip
Karen: Nice job following the Second Lead. A few second tries but good control on the crests. There is still room for improvement regarding communication. Keep up the good job.
ANGEL: Very good solid drive and a good example of radio discipline. Had a couple of second tries but that’s part of the game. Thanks for the support.
MAHMOOD: Solid drive, its evident you have previous experience. Hope to see you soon on another trip!
PREGGY: Getting used to your FJ better and better every trip. Solid drive, good job Preggy!
SID: Also getting more confident with each trip. Nice control of the car today but remember to keep the power up while on top of the crests.
PRADEEP: Solid drive today PraJEEP, good job! Do not forget to keep an eye on the mirror so the convoy does not fall behind!
CHRIS: A few second tries as you getting used to your new drive and had bad luck with your power steering. Despite the heavy steering wheel, you managed to follow the convoy all the way to the end. Make sure these guys from Offroad Zone give you a warranty on that problem!
MIKE: Great job with the recoveries and giving tips to the Fellas on self recoveries. It was a pleasure to have you on the convoy and thanks for the help!
SEE YOU ALL SOON!

Thank you Mike for the recovery guidance 👍
Looking forward to next drive with Desert Fellas 😍
Pity I wasn’t there but I heard that it was an awesome trip. The pics and videos looked great Karen loved your beautiful long side sweep🚙🚙🚙
Tiago, congratulations on your Offroader drive – Pragasan couldn’t stop raving about it❤️
I’ve only been in this area of Badayer once before (as Rathica’s passenger) when Salouh led the Off-roader convoy. On that day the desert was deserted 🤣. We were the only convoy around and it seemed like undiscovered terrain. Yesterday was a completely different story. There were about 5 different clubs starting their drives at the same location as us and driving in the same part of the Desert making it tricky to navigate.
Tiago did an amazing job of keeping an eye out for traffic from other convoys, always keeping our convoy out of harms way. This slowed the drive down a little but also gave everyone time for a quick leg stretch.
The challenges along the route kept the group actively engaged and required complete concentration.
I had a self recovery on a precarious slope due to my own lapse of concentration and poor speed control. The FJ felt unstoppable, just chewing up every challenge that was thrown at it. I suppose the car was capable from the very beginning, it’s the driver that needed to learn how to drive this car. Perhaps driving Rathica’s Jeep made me lazy🤣. I came out of this drive feeling a lot more confident thanks to the various technical challenges selected by Tiago. Getting to the top of Iftar bowl felt like such an achievement, but that’s probably because it was my first time.
Congratulations Tiago, I look forward to our next drive and many more to follow.
PS. Next time we’ll conquer the SUPER BOWL😳😃
Congratulations Redbaron, I so much wish I could be on this trip. I feel I needed to be there specially in this area coz I think I still have a lot to learn about it’s dunes and terrain. I will make sure to be there on the next one isA
