Ab Initio 11th Generation
Ab Initio 11 was very successful with a number of 48 vehicles.
It was wonderful to see a huge convoy of vehicles stretched from the meeting place to the Ab Initio venue.
This Ab Initio had an increase number of drivers who are touching sand for very first time. We have realized that many clubs are suggesting to their members to attend our training.
The introductory presentation was given by ChefMarc in collaboration with Mike and Marko.
After the presentation, the drivers were divided into three teams, safety briefing was done and we started our first drive.
RED TEAM (Marko)
The red team was made up of drivers who are on the sand for the first time or have ridden with other clubs but do not feel safe and want to start from the beginning.
Drivers quickly understood the discipline of driving and were faced with the first challenges. All showed the utmost seriousness and willingness to learn, which resulted in a good initial ride with excellent team spirit.
We had some expected other attempts and several recovery situations.
Team composition: second lead: Drew, and sweeper / recovery: Michael
They both did a great job and provided a high level of security.
GREEN TEAM (Chef Marc)
This convoy was lead by Chef Marc, supported by Javier as a sweeper. The prospects had limited experience on sand but were eager to get dusty.
They did multiple repetitions of straight cresting in multiple scenarios increasing along the way.
They all did an exceptional job, yes we had many stuck situations but this is part of it
and of course good practice for our sweeper. Communication was a bit lacking in the beginning but near the end it was sharp and smooth.
We are sure this batch of prospects have what it takes to be DF members and look forward to seeing their progress
BLUE TIM (Mike)
We all met on time for the AB Initial, listened to the presentations on the philosophy of Desert Fellas, what you can expect when you join us for rides, the most important rules for driving with us on the sand, and equipment that we believe will serve you well in all your offroad endeavors.
After the presentation we briefed on safety and our plan for the drive, double checked tow points, set the convoy order, and performed our radio checks.
It was a slow and deliberate drive. Our goal was to see how well our group could control their cars and work as a group within the Desert Fellas guidelines.
We did straight crest after straight crest and kept a steady momentum with a number of sticks and second tries.
All the drivers did very well and showed good control on the straight crests. We will improve those skills as well as communication on each and every drive.

It is with great pleasure that I joined this gathering to discover the philosophy of this Desert Fellas club.
the presentation of it, and the distribution of the speakers, were excellent and clear. good atmosphere, with the necessary seriousness.
what could be more normal than joining practice to theory, just after?
we find ourselves alone, each in his car, to start a series of exercises …which made us cover a distance of 17.3 km.

See to believe, I saw the committee and goal of DF, it was amazing and like the presentation, I was part of blue team, it improved my skills and instructions given by Mike was very useful. Much appreciated and looking forward to see u guys next time.

Fun and useful
Lots of new people on this ride. Good to see so many people willing to give Desert Fellas a try. The new members did a fairly good job with communication. The best part of the trip was when the camel’s came to visit 😎
I was in Blue team in this event. Nice to see the display of all safety gear and explaining their usages and what is really required for the basic drive level. Had very simple straight crests as warmup. Thanks to Mike for explaining do’s & don’ts during and after the drive. Thanks to Mako & Chef Marc.
