What better way to make the most of the long weekend than an afternoon drive in Sweihan . Deflating in the shade behind a tree line, the air was filled with anticipation and excitement, mostly anticipation, as this was a first experience for me leading in this area.

Jumping straight into it we started leaving our marks across the sides of these vast dune formations, cautiously edging higher and with multiple passes, each attempt refining our lines needed to make the high level crosses, delivering split second moments of tranquility as we gazed over the serene landscape.

With no other convoys in sight, we had the area all to ourselves and with a slight breeze the desert was starting to reclaim tracks from convoys earlier in the day. With Nagra in our sights it was time to put the pedal to the metal to lay down some more.

Climbing high and transversing across Nagra from the east it was time to fine some shade and take a break (one of many) to let our engines cool down and to check the status of a power steering issue on one of the cars which was being managed from earlier on in the drive.

The sun now lowering in the sky it was time to crack on, navigating our way through smaller free flowing dune formations switching from side to side until our hearts were content with only the sounds of our engines in the backdrop.

Despite our vehicles and bodies being exhausted, our faces still bore smiles so it was time to make a beeline for the exit to enjoy the final moments of sunset and the cooler temperatures.

Thank you, gentlemen, for the great company and camaraderie throughout, the scheduled stops for some rest bite and banter were a real highlight of the trip.  Anders, great to have you back and I hope the steering issues are resolved quickly, Chef Marc as always thank you for the expert guidance and tips finding the line.

With the start of the season in sight I look forward to many more adventures with our members through this surreal landscape.

See you on the sand soon.
