Firebird Safari: where birds spread their wings and journey afar

Our plan was simple which resembled a flock of birds, seeking resources along their journey.

Gaining momentum with gradual ascents around fossil rock we steered our way through chef’s bowl, the area quiet with only one other convoy in sight meant we could soon find a rhythm carving a path up and over these lovely, elongated dune formations.

Our team of off roaders including two marshals meant the pressure was on! but with excellent convoy discipline and a comforting silence on the radio we were all fully focused and locked in, with our sights firmly set on the next challenge.

Carefully skirting around the base of big red we cautiously explored our path around this ancient beast checking the pulse of this beating giant before identifying a suitable crossing point to ascent and conquer it. Once achieved we repeated the process this time adding a double switch into our daring safari.

It was time to take a break! relax and welcome back Marshall Marko who was in high spirits following the summer break and wasn’t short of banter.

Now completely warmed up, it was time to head over to the Darkside. With our skills finely tuned, we accelerated, conquering the high-lying dunes in sight. Before long, we experienced some exhilarating high-level cresting, providing us with a captivating 360-degree view of Sharjah’s stunning natural beauty. A picture that will remain etched in our minds forever.

After a short, assisted recovery where crawl control wasn’t enough to break free, we made our way to iftar bowl. Another convoy who kindly parked their vehicles at a high crossing point needed some quick thinking to navigate but this experienced convoy quickly found an alternate path without any inconvenience.

Further to the usual ‘sending it’ antics around iftar bowl, we made our way to the exit where we treated ourselves to fresh coconuts and Karak, replenishing those lost electrolytes. Despite feeling completely exhausted, a sense of joy filled us as we reflected on this incredible 75km safari.

Thank you, gentlemen, for a great drive, one that won’t be forgotten, see you on the sand soon.
