Basic training 4 & 5

A short break during the festive season and Basic Training is back in full swing.

Now that we can fully focus on training, it was very important to warm up properly before tackling an ambition day where two lessons will be combined in one day. The morning started with some mental exercises to stimulate our brains in preparation for a demanding day.

As the trip got underway, it was clear the exercises worked because the convoy was displaying excellent disciplines and good radio communications during the warm-up, giving confidence to pick up the pace early on.

It did not take long for us to reach the bigger dunes where we would put much of the day’s focus on. Here, we practiced some big climbs and how to manage situations when a second try is needed on these bigger beasts.

After an extended brunch break, the second part of the day started with some synchronized teamwork exercises to build trust and situational awareness, and the team impressed us with this beautiful display after mastering it very quickly.

With most of the lessons out of the way, some really demanding driving with combining all elements in different terrains lay ahead. As a team, everyone executed big climbs, bowls and technical areas extremely well and our sweeper did not have 6 to get out his gear.

Near the end of the drive, we could tell that fatigue was setting in, so the last part of the trip was at a slightly lower pace towards the exit.

It’s always great to see how quick our Fellas and Felicitas progress and for some it was only drive 3 but kept up well, evidence that good focus, disciplines and training can make safe, great drivers in no time.

Thanks for the great training and support from Marko and sweeping 2nd lead Hussam. See you on the sand soon.
