This was probably one of the last desert camps of the season so we were hell bent on making this one count and the memories last well into the the late summer.

The journey was long to reach our deflation point but with most things, the harder the journey the sweeter the reward and on this camp these words could not ring anymore true. As this was a new area for most of the campers we emphasized that all their training up to this point would come into play to even just reach the camp area in this demanding yet majestic desert, not to mention the epic drive planned for the weekend.

We quickly made our way deep into the dunes till we found the perfect campsite and with haste we set up camp so that we could got smash a few dunes before lighting the grill to feast on our camp dinners. The drive in the afternoon was a great warmup for the next day with some crazy bowls, massive climbs and near vertically descents. As we enjoyed the sunset we made our way back to camp to enjoy a cheery night with great banter, food and beverages.

As the sun peaked over the dunes in the morning we were all well rested and started packing up after breakfast (we just couldn’t wait to get back on the dunes). Once the campers had all packed up and ready to move, the convoy started rolling but were stopped dead in our tracks with a funny incident that will be surely told around the campfires for years to come, lets just say, if you can Dodge it, RAM IT!

Finally we got moving putting some heat in our tires before climbing every cliff, riding every bowl and exploring every monstrous dune in our sight. Even though this was a Jr Lvl drive, it was the most demanding one yet and really showed the team that the real potential of their machines. We were really having too much fun and if our fuel tanks were larger I’m sure we would still be in the dunes.

Thanks you everyone for a excellent weekend and great memories, looking forward to creating more very soon and returning to this area even sooner.

  1. Sounds like yet another fun filled and memorable Desert Fellas camp. This report certainty makes me “wish I were there”.
Now that our Juniors have received a taste of the magnificent terrain and scenery that lies further afield, I’m certain that there’ll be more interest in such distant trips.
May your fond memories of this amazing adventure keep you energized throughout the week.

  2. I’m glad I was there! 😀 It was truly amazing weekend- loved the dunes, the breathtaking views from the top, the opportunity to challenge the car in some areas, the company, the BBQ!!!
