Tropicana
Tropicana trip was true to its name today, starting out with rainy and cloudy weather conditions, giving the fellas that feel of the Tropics.
Soon after the warm up, Al faqa technical area slowed down the convoy with some second tries and 2 recoveries, yet our Senior Team leader Preggy tackled it in an impressive few minutes.
After a well-deserved break, we approached bigger dunes. The wet sands and the rain collected then led to the first pop-out of the day, which put our fella driver into a sticky rolled on the side situation. This was solved with the help and teamwork of ourrecovery team and the moral support of the Desert Family convoy.
After fixing the issue, the convoy headed directly to the exit on a slow and relaxed pace, enough to arrive just on time as per the trip’s description.
Today was the first time for a lot of the fellas to feel and experience the wet sands. This experience and the situation offered during this drive will definitely increase the level of knowledge and respect that our hobby requires,in order to keep the high standards of Desert fellas’ group. In addition to the already said we learnt today the importance of never fight gravity and keep checking our tires pressure during rest breaks, it will avoid futures pop-out and potentials roll-overs.
Many thanks to all the participants for applying a great set of skills and discipline learnt from previous drives. Special thanks also goes out to Talal (Second Lead) and Preggy (Sweeper) for keeping the convoy moving all the time.

Thanks Fellas for the spirit of camaraderie and discipline during the drive .
Every drive is a learning experience for me and today’s trip meant finding the switch for the windscreen wipers! The light rain made reading the dunes easier but the sand moved differently so a lot of focus was required through the technical area. Aquaman and Preggy are so cool and calm and we had the added bonus of an ultra-cool Talal as second lead. A couple of stucks and a tricky recovery were handled professionally and safely and the whole group came together as a team. Added bonus of a couple of short cresting slots to keep Marco happy! Thanks guys for the great morning and I look forward to driving with you again.
Thanks Martin for the best refreshments ever after the drive 💪👍🤩
That was my smallest cool box. I’ll bring the Tacoma if you want the “proper” refreshment selection!
Interesting 🧐
Haha now I’m really upset I missed this drive!
I’m not much of an early morning person, but 5am Fridays are something I now really look forward to. And today was no exception. The weather was fantastic and I think it was one of my first desert drives in the rain – tricky in spots, but absolutely loved it. Thanks Aquaman, Preggy and Talal for all your efforts. Absolute pleasure driving with you all and the entire convoy. And thank you Martin for keeping us hydrated after the drive 🙂
