Treacherous terrain to Lucky Lake
A place of beauty but where very few offroaders explore and for good reason, lets find out what Lucky Lake drive had in store for us.
Starting at a very humid sunrise on the Abu Dhabi and Dubai boarder the convoy navigated through a once smooth sand patch with open plains but now was due to cloud seeding, an area that is very green and filled with vegetation. This made the progress a steady overland paced drive towards the dune area but still very worth the early morning for the view and to be out in nature.
Reaching the playground area we faced some very technical dunes that have not seen tracks in many months, these sand demanded some skill to navigate powdery soft patches that bogged us down and when momentum was not perfect the odd second try was necessary. Luckily we were able to soldier on towards our morning break at Stingray Lake enjoying the sightings of many gazelle heards in the area and a freshly brewed cup of Karak in hand.
The second half of the drive was time to increase the difficulty of the lines and enter even more technical terrain. This is when some bigger climbs came into play but with shorter run ups, things got a bit more interesting with a few tricky stuck situation but a solid suport crew got us moving quickly after a few rope pulls and a winch recovery.
Drawing closer to our exit time the convoy made way to a familiar area and this is when we saw other tracks for the first time on the drive. A more open area, less vegetation and technical terrain in the rear view meant we could really open the throttles and fly toward our exit point to finish on time.
An awesome morning exploring some lesser known places with good friends and great vibes. Thank you to Marko and Anders for great support and recovery. See you all on the sand soon.
