Heavy rainfall across the country from Friday morning had left the sand heavy for our drive in Nazwa this morning but that certainly didn’t dampen the spirits.

Our convoy set out to warm up and get a feel for the unfamiliar surface conditions under our tyres before hitting the slopes at the back of Big Red. With the tyre pressures set a little higher than usual, the climbs and lines that usually pose a challenge even for advanced drivers became child’s play and we took the opportunity to explore the higher parts of the dune that are usually not featured in a Junior drive.

With Big Red well and truly conquered and confidence levels running high, our route took us north east in the direction of Pink Rock – picking out the best lines through bowl after bowl along the way, the firm sand and extra traction allowing us to make rapid progress with no stucks or second tries.

The objective for the second part of the morning was to rendezvous at Chef’s Bowl with the convoy completing their Basic Training course today. It was a pleasure to join this group as they successfully graduated and we welcomed another cohort of highly trained drivers to the Desert Fellas family. Congratulations to you all and we hope to have you as part of a convoy in the coming weeks with your shiny new flags!

Celebrations completed it was back to business for a final push to our exit point with a circumnavigation of Pink Rock ticking off our bucket list for the morning.
