Patches of reality
After good night celebrating our new Expert’s upgrade, some of us left early to be fresh for our Patches of reality trip.
We were all on time to deflation point but not ready so started a few minutes behind shedule. Warm up got under way promptly but sand was extremely soft and crests sharp, this meant the warm up was thorough, second tries and gear selection were made early and after a hour of warm up we were ready to really increase the level!
Convoy was cresting and climbing every massive dune in sight with a very decent pace even though there were a lot of other convoys in the area, Fellas remained on track and flying through the challanges. Tripple switch was the start of the serious driving and after a good amount of crushing the crests here, expert and Marshall did a switch position maneuver to keep the convoy on their toes pushing them to drive even harder, some Fellas even needed to switch their transfer cases to keep up with the high pace.
With fuel running low and adrenaline running strong convoy exited on time well stimulated and satisfied for the day.
Thank you to our new Expert Preggy for sweeping and a great last hour of fun, Johann for 2nd lead, Lynel and Anders for some good driving, keeping the convoy tight and all round cheerful banter.
See you on the sand soon!

Today’s trip was great!! We were flying HIGH! High climbs, high oace and high spirits. Every bit of focus was needed to stay on pace and on track! Loved it!
Thanks Marchal Marc en Expert Preggs for stunning lines today!!
Starting a drive in Madam area in summer is always challenging and needs a little extra focus to overcome the powdery sand on steep slopes. Today was no different, however, having a lead who selected just the right lines ensured that the convoy ploughed through this area with arrowy speed. High climbs and high speed switches in and out of large bowls was no strain for these off-roaders. Super bowl was quiet when we got there so Marshall Marc explored every face of the mound with vigor before generously offering me the lead.
I was given the unexpected privilege of leading this convoy for the last hour of the drive and relished every moment it. The dune formation from Super bowl to Badayer shops was very forgiving today, which made leading in this area quite a pleasure.
This trip had a mix of all the elements that made for a great start to the long weekend.
Thanks for the fantastic company and support on today’s drive. Moments like these make unforgettable memories.
