On the Run: A Thrilling Mid Summer Desert Morning Expedition
On a glorious summer morning, Desert Fellas and Felicita embarked on yet another exhilarating journey through the Arabian desert at the outskirts of Dubai, ready to embrace the excitement of off-road adventure. Despite the scorching temperatures common in the heart of the Arabian summer, fortune smiled upon us as the mercury dipped below 40 degrees, allowing to push our vehicles to the limit for a bit longer than usual in this heat.
The expedition kicked off from starting point just behind the camel race track. A brief warm-up was all it took to ignite the adrenaline through our veins as we approached some of Dubai’s most magnificent side slopes. Stretching for hundreds of meters, these slopes offered pure exhilaration, setting the tone for an unforgettable experience.
After an hour of heart-pounding fun, the group decided to take a well-deserved break. Savoring the moments of triumph and camaraderie, while basking in the beauty of the desert landscape. But the clock was ticking, and it was time to push on to the next phase of the adventure.
Navigating through fast-paced bowls and carefully maneuvering around treacherous technical patches, the team finally arrived at the foot of some towering dunes. However, reaching these magnificent dunes was not without its challenges. A few second tries were required, and a rope recovery came into play during the encounter with the technical dunes. Nevertheless, our determination prevailed, and pressed forward.
As the morning sun was climbing the sky, the final run presented a breathtaking display of fantastic slide slopes. The thrill of gliding up, and not so much down the dunes, left us with a great sence of satisfaction when we reached our exit point ahead of schedule.
Special thanks to Sarah, as the second lead, Javier, our diligent sweeper, and Tony, whose presence added to the spirit of adventure.
Indeed, “On the Run” was a fitting name for this high-speed desert drive today, looking forward to next one on the sand.
