Offroad Discovery
A few months escape from the summer heat and we are back to Offroad Discovery!
Today we had a very dynamic group of Fellas and Felicitas who joined us, some total novices who kissed the sand for the very first time and a lovely group from Adventure Emarat who were looking to expand their off road knowledge.
We were extremely happy to have them all today, the group was very friendly, focused and engaged. We also had some lovely karak, juices and snacks, thanks for sharing. The morning started with introductions followed by presentation on preparing, diciplines and safety gear. I’m sure we all learned something new.
As the sun was getting higher in the sky and mercury rising it was time to form a convoy and start with the first lesson, straight cresting. Here we did many repetitions, once confidence grew we increased the challenge. For the first timers this was slightly intimidating but after a few deep breaths they were able really mange the challenge well and start enjoying.
With this critical technique masterd, the convoy took a short drive through the dunes and we managed to exit on time as planned. Today was a lot of information and I must say most of it stuck with this group, they did fantastic in the sand and we are very excited to see them in basic training soon.
Many thanks to our support team, Marko, Preggy, Zoubeir and Johann for your guidance and keeping the convoy safe.
See you all on the sand soon

This group of Offroad Discovery trainees took to the sand like ducks to water. They also had a good sense of camaraderie, which is a corner stone of effective convoy driving. Having trust and a sound knowledge of your own strengths and weaknesses as well as that of your fellow drivers makes convoys flow effortlessly through the desert when the right skills set is acquired. I look forward to following the growth of this group as they progress through their training.
