Arriving at our meeting point at dawn this morning, our group of new adventurers were ready to take on their first desert experience with the Desert Fellas Discovery off-road session. The excitement was clear from the start, and the conditions were perfect for introducing them to the world of dune driving.

We began by covering the essential basics of desert preparation, along with one of the most important elements of all — driving theory and safety discipline. With the foundations set and everyone feeling confident, it was time to head into the dunes and tackle the day’s practical challenges.

Starting with their very first dune crossings and progressing all the way to navigating sharp, razor-shaped crests, these new drivers quickly began developing their skills. There were a few stucks along the way — which is all part of the learning process — but our sweeper in training, Bal, was quick and precise with the recoveries, keeping the convoy moving smoothly and efficiently.

The second part of the session focused on the fun and adventure side of off-roading. With an adrenaline-filled side-sloping exercise followed by a full desert drive, we could clearly see the confidence and ability of the group growing with every dune. By the end of the drive, we exited safely with everyone wearing big smiles from ear to ear, ready and excited to take the next step into our Basic Training course.
