Though far away from any ocean shore a sea of endless dunes greeted us at our Neptune drive meeting point this morning.

Though we were a very small convoy today we made up for it with experience and after last weeks drive we just had to come back to this beautiful area. Wasting no time the convoy started warming up straight away, making our way back to the crazy big bowls that gave us flash backs of the winter months back in Liwa area. After we had our fill in this playground it was time to make our way to Old Lady dune for a Karak tea break and enjoy the view.

Once we had our little break it was time to go on a scouting mission to find a camping area for the winter months and only a few kilometers from a goat farm we found a scenic, quiet place with flat ground surrounded by Ghaf trees that will be a great spot once temperatures cool down enough for an overnight stay. Completing the scout it was time to make our way through unchartered territory toward Nagra approaching from the north west.

Again this week we had this monster dune all to our selves with only barley a few tracks visible from last weekend and even though the sand was much softer, but much fresher, we could still reach the top switching and cresting this beast with ease leaving fresh tracks from top to bottom. Time was pushing on so with new adrenaline pumping it was time to pick up the pace and level to wards the exit, visiting a few newer dunes that not many have on our way.

We were flying and made really good time to finished exactly on time at the exit to inflated, head home and enjoy the rest of our weekend with family. Catch you on the sand soon.

  1. Thanks chef Marc for another epic drive, Pedal to the metal always!

The scenery, our small agile convoy and lack of others in the area really felt like we were an exploration mission on another planet!

At the exit point whilst inflating we saw the aftermath of an accident in another convoy. This was a reminder of the risks we all take as drivers whilst out in the desert, so big shoutout to all the Marshalls and support team who guide us, teach us best practices and keep us safe as can be.

See you on the next one (after an oil change).
