A full convoy gathered at our meeting point in Al Madam as the sun came up on the 52nd UAE National Day.

This would be a new area to explore for our recent Junior graduates and it certainly didn’t disappoint, with plenty of new challenges to face. A mix of big climbs to get the adrenaline flowing, and some slower technical areas lay ahead of us, testing the comfort zone limits and relying on all of the skills learned during training.

Our route was as ambitious as it was epic, some 15km as the crow flies towards the shops of Badayer, ticking off many of the bigger dunes along the way. Our first refreshment break high up on one such climb rewarded us with stunning views back over the desert, enjoyed with a karak chai and great company.

A few second tries kept Martin on his toes with some swift self recoveries as we forged on ahead, seeking flowing lines through this demanding and relentless terrain until before we knew it, time had come to head for the exit point, and with one last dune to cross we ended on a high note.

Wrapping up the morning with a celebratory slice of cake courtesy of Martin was the perfect start to the long weekend.

Thanks to Sara for second lead, Martin for sweeping and Marko for the support. See you on the sand again soon!

  1. A great morning with a full convoy playing in some challenging terrain. The technical area usually claims a few stucks but this group ploughed through without missing a beat. Thanks Ryan for the amazing lead and fantastic lines!

Thanks for leading this fun drive Ryan . This is great location to kick off the weekend, and the new role as leader. I’ve been to this area once before with Martin as lead , you both make it a fun and varied drive, with a few challenges thrown in for good measure! Keep up the good work guys.
