Anticipating a hot and humid day,  the weather was actually quite pleasant. With preparations and safety briefing done the convoy headed into the desert to warm up.

A gentle start, side sloping in nice terrain was only interrupted by a herd of camels as the team headed towards Pink Rock. Once the dunes opened up, the pace was increased for a few climbs and bowls to reach the break point at Chef’s Bowl.

After a short social gathering, the team headed off and played around in a great area with some nice hill climbs, side slopes and bowl driving with the odd straight crest thrown in. Following a quick pop-out fix by Marshal Chef Marc, the challenges increased with some more difficult climbs in softer sand that resulted in a couple of self recoveries and a second pop-out that were professionally handled by our Marshal.

With time running out, the convoy made a few final runs on the Eastern and Southern faces of Big Red before heading to the exit point exactly on time.
